Becky, As always, you rocked the presentation. I loved the young girl's story about swallowing the quarter! It had a great sense of voice. It is refreshing to know that even you have faced adversity trying to implement the changes you envisioned. :-)
Leslie, I want to hit the like button. Guess I spend too much time on Facebook. I have several students who have taken to writing even though it may not have been their strong point in the past. Just in the past couple weeks, the fog has begun to clear, and I can almost make out the path now.
Love the Stardate! I think the changes in curriculum have us all a little "challenged." I agree with Leslie about the quarter story. Great uses of Google apps. Reminds me of ways I need to utilize it myself!
I love that you used True Flix! I haven't used that yet but you have inspired me to do so. Your students are lucky to have such an inventive teacher. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate that you included how you had to be more teacher directed at the beginning to make sure the students knew how to use the technology. I also like the way you had students use the spreadsheet to document weather patterns- great idea! I bet your students can't wait to get to school everyday - You are awesome! :)
Becky, I love the creativity of your presentations and how you have shown your journey. That is exactly what Pinnacle is, it is a journey to explore how to teach and reach our students with the best tools and practices that we can. I so appreciate that you do what you do.
Great job Becky! I love your presentation tool! I like that you mentioned it is important for students to understand the technology before actually using it and being let loose. Once they "get it" they certainly love to run! :)
Thanks for all the comments! I feel loved. One of my favorite things about being a teacher, is finding new ways to present information, to share what we know, and to help others learn how to express themselves. I think as a kid, I always learned better when I was inspired to do so. It wasn't just about learning, it was about being able to share my point of view afterward. How did my vision change, how did my vision grow. And yes, I was definitely a visual learner. I want to give those experiences to my students. I want to inspire them to learn, create, and thirst for more.
I like the way you presented your blog. I liked your student work samples. I think the weather data would be doable for my students. I like the way you have integrated activities within your classroom and are allowing your students the opportunity to choose roles within the classroom.
