After reading Wonder by R.J. Palacio, students worked in small collaborative groups to create character posters about each of the characters in the story. When they were finished with their posters, they used the information they gathered to create wordclouds about their group's assigned character.
We then put the wordclouds into a collage using Picassa as a photo editing tool.
What program did you use for the word clouds. I've used Wordle and Tagzedo but they don't create faces.
ReplyDeleteI used Tagxedo, it has an option to upload your own image. It has to be a silhouette image to work well.
ReplyDeleteDid you draw your characters?
ReplyDeleteNo, not the ones we used in Tagxedo. The book has these silhouette images in them. In this case, we used what the book already had. The images here are very identifiable with the book, if you have read it. Most of the illustrations have one eye which is a statement on the characters struggle to see the real Augie, his personality, verses their impressions of him based on his very deformed outer shell. In the past, we have used drawings, and photographs I've taken. That would be the artist in me. I'm a very visual person.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I plan to try this!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing idea for such an amazing story!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME STORY!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi! You're very creative! Did you just scanned the pictures from the book and saved those images and uploaded them on tagzedo? Thanks for responding.
